Sunny yellow-to-brown patches that **ignore the hose** are mid-to-late August’s favorite false diagnosis. 6. **Compare to Cloyd’s damage theme carefully.** About **5–10 per square foot** may result in damage (Cloyd)—that is a **damage risk** note, not a universal “spray now” law. Log your estimate, then ask Extension which number applies to **your** species and state.
7. **Separate predators and chewing pests.** Big-eyed bugs eat chinch bugs—killing them removes free biocontrol.
