Fifty-seven days after Labor Day is when **Upstate / Piedmont** warm-season DIY threads stop **staging** the Nov 5 jug and start the honest early-November question: **is Clemson’s printed Nov 5 second application this weekend—or am I still counting weeks from a real first spray?** Clemson HGIC’s South Carolina table still matters: first fungicide about **October 15** Upstate (Clemson / Greenville / Rock Hill), **October 20** Midlands / Pee Dee / Aiken / Myrtle Beach, **October 25** Charleston / Beaufort, with the **second** about **three weeks later**—**November 5 / November 10 / November 15** by the same regions—once soils have consistently dropped near **~70 °F**. Those dates are a **calendar cue**, not a re-dose command. Soft “spray again because Columbia’s Nov 10 line is printed” posts invent the wrong county’s jug for a Greenville lot whose Oct 15-week first spray is already about **nineteen days** old on day-57—and invent a second app for a Charleston lot that is only about **nine days** past first spray.

This page is the **early-November Clemson Upstate large-patch second-spray execute fork**—the calendar handoff after [Second spray?—Upstate late October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-upstate-late-october-second-spray-staging-execute-triage.md), [Spray now?—Upstate mid-October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-upstate-mid-october-first-spray-execute-triage.md), [Second spray now?—Midlands early November](/articles/large-patch-clemson-midlands-early-november-second-spray-execute-triage.md), [Second spray?—Midlands late October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-midlands-late-october-second-spray-staging-execute-triage.md), [Second spray?—Coast late October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-coastal-late-october-second-spray-staging-execute-triage.md), [Spray now?—Coast late October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-coastal-late-october-first-spray-execute-triage.md), [Spray now?—Midlands mid-October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-midlands-mid-october-first-spray-execute-triage.md), [Oct 15 spray?—early October large patch](/articles/large-patch-early-october-clemson-calendar-staging-execute-triage.md), and the generic [Second spray now?—late September](/articles/warm-season-fall-fungicide-second-app-late-september-execute-triage.md) (Labor Day / early-September first-spray follow-ups). It sits beside [Spray now?—late September large patch](/articles/large-patch-late-september-soil-temp-recheck-execute-triage.md), [First spray?—Labor Day large patch](/articles/large-patch-labor-day-first-spray-execute-triage.md), the [fall timing checklist](/articles/fall-large-patch-fungicide-timing-zoysia-warm-season.md), [soil-temp logging](/articles/warm-season-large-patch-spring-dead-spot-soil-temp-logging-late-july.md), [large patch ID](/articles/large-patch-zoysia-st-augustine-centipede.md), [Spray SDS now?—late September](/articles/spring-dead-spot-late-september-soil-temp-execute-triage.md), [warm-season N stop](/articles/warm-season-nitrogen-stop-early-august-countdown-triage.md), [winterizer myths](/articles/warm-season-winterizer-fertilizer-myths-bermuda-zoysia.md), [Last PRE?—mid-October winter weeds](/articles/warm-season-winter-weed-preventer-mid-october-last-call-execute-triage.md), and [Seed rye now?—early October bermuda](/articles/bermuda-winter-rye-early-october-execute-triage.md) when the same weekend is a rye bag, not a fungicide jug. Cool-season Halloween-weekend / early-November readers should stay on [Feed before Nov 15?—Maryland](/articles/cool-season-maryland-fertilizer-blackout-late-october-november-execute-triage.md), [Still feed?—Early November](/articles/cool-season-early-november-nitrogen-after-halloween-execute-triage.md), [Feed now?—Halloween late October](/articles/cool-season-halloween-late-october-nitrogen-feed-vs-hold-execute-triage.md), [Lime now?—late October](/articles/cool-season-fall-lime-late-october-execute-triage.md), [Still aerate?—late October](/articles/cool-season-core-aerate-late-october-last-call-execute-triage.md), [Too late?—late October broadleaf](/articles/cool-season-fall-broadleaf-late-october-last-call-execute-triage.md), [Still spray?—Early November henbit](/articles/cool-season-henbit-chickweed-postemergent-early-november-execute-triage.md), [Spray henbit?—late October](/articles/cool-season-henbit-chickweed-postemergent-late-october-execute-triage.md), [Clear mats?—late October leaves](/articles/cool-season-peak-leaf-drop-late-october-execute-triage.md), [Stop mowing?—late October](/articles/cool-season-last-mow-late-october-execute-triage.md), and [Missed seed?—Midwest mid-October](/articles/cool-season-dormant-seeding-midwest-mid-october-danger-zone-execute-triage.md)—this page is the warm-season **Clemson Upstate Nov 5-week second spray** execute only. It is not a remote diagnosis and not a fungicide prescription. Confirm chronic patches, product choice, and reapplication intervals with [county extension](https://www.extension.org/) or a diagnostic clinic. Always follow the **current product label**. Map treated polygons with the free [lawn area calculator](/tools/lawn-area.md) and scale carrier volume with the [liquid / sprayer calculator](/tools/liquid.md).

## Key takeaways

- **Clemson HGIC (SC calendar honesty):** centipede most susceptible, then St. Augustine, then zoysia; bermudagrass often less severe; avoid N after about **Aug 15** Upstate / mid-state or **Sep 1** coast (including winterizer bags with N); initiate fall fungicide once soils drop to about **70 °F**; multi-year averages often place first apps **Oct 15 / Oct 20 / Oct 25** by region with **second apps about three weeks later** (**Nov 5 / Nov 10 / Nov 15**); spring follow-up at green-up; homeowner granular tables note watering-in (about **½ inch** themes) and dual-AI Group A options versus alternating single-AI Groups B and C between apps.
- **NC State (two-app / severe-site honesty):** many **centipede / St. Augustine** preventive starts when soils decline to about **80 °F for 5+ consecutive days**; many **zoysia** starts near about **70 °F for 5+ consecutive days**; **two well-timed** fall applications often provide season-long control; severe sites may repeat about **every 4–6 weeks** while soils stay above roughly **50 °F**; apply in at least **2 gal / 1,000 sq ft** (3+ or light watering-in often helps); **map spring circles** for spot treatment.
- **Mississippi State / UGA themes:** first preventive after **2-inch** morning soils at **≤70 °F for about three consecutive days** (MSU); UGA late September / early October when nights cool deeply and/or **2-inch** soils fall **below ~70 °F**; carrier volume **≥2 preferably 3 gal / 1,000 sq ft** still applies on the follow-up.
- **Day-57 Upstate honesty:** Clemson’s **Nov 5** Upstate second-app average is **about two days ahead** of this Halloween-weekend / early-November stretch—Path A execute when your own journal shows a real first spray about **~3 weeks** ago (or your **label interval**) and mid-morning soils still sit above severe-site stop cues (~**50 °F** NC State theme). Typical Oct 15-week first sprays are about **nineteen days** old on day-57 and hit ~**21 days** by Nov 5—that is the Clemson three-week band opening, not a reason to invent a Midlands or coastal re-dose. Midlands lots whose Oct 20 first spray is about **fourteen days** old (second average nearer **Nov 10**, about **seven days** ahead) prefer [Second spray now?—Midlands early November](/articles/large-patch-clemson-midlands-early-november-second-spray-execute-triage.md) for the Nov 10-week execute ([Second spray?—Midlands late October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-midlands-late-october-second-spray-staging-execute-triage.md) remains the staging companion). Coastal lots whose Oct 25 first spray is about **nine days** old (second average nearer **Nov 15**, about **twelve days** ahead) stay on [Second spray?—Coast late October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-coastal-late-october-second-spray-staging-execute-triage.md). Charleston / Beaufort lots that never opened first spray are **Path C**.
- **DIY early-November job:** pick **Path A** (Upstate / Piedmont first spray ~**3 weeks** ago + soils still conducive → second spray now toward Nov 5), **Path B** (Midlands / coastal first spray still aging → stage toward Nov 10 / Nov 15), **Path C** (never sprayed → first-spray forks), or **Path D** (no history / already finished two apps / soils below stop / bermuda SDS → skip)—not “re-spray because Columbia’s Nov 10 line is printed.”

## Why this early-November week confuses Carolinas yards

| Cue that tempts the wrong Saturday | What extension is saying | DIY correction |
| --- | --- | --- |
| “Halloween weekend—everyone sprays the second jug” | Upstate second apps average nearer **Nov 5**; Midlands **Nov 10**; coast **Nov 15** | Count weeks from **your** first spray |
| “I sprayed Oct 15—wait until the printed Nov 5 no matter what” | Clemson’s footnote: second app **~3 weeks later**; label intervals may be **14–28 days** | Path A when the week band opens, even a few days before the average |
| “Neighbor in Charleston copied Greenville’s second jug” | Coastal second average often **Nov 15**; many coastal lots are still ~**five days** into first spray | Path B / C by county |
| “Never sprayed—copy the second-app calendar” | Second apps assume a real first spray on a soil-temp streak | Path C → first-spray forks |
| Winterizer “for fall color” between apps | Soft late N amplifies large patch; Clemson N-stop dates already passed | Hold N; see [winterizer myths](/articles/warm-season-winterizer-fertilizer-myths-bermuda-zoysia.md) |
| Same single-AI jug twice without rotating | Clemson: Groups B and C should **alternate** between apps | Read Group A dual-AI vs B/C notes |
| Bermuda orange memory → zoysia second jug | Bermuda often **outgrows** large patch; fall story is frequently [spring dead spot](/articles/spring-dead-spot-bermudagrass-fall-fungicide-timing.md) | Path D / SDS timing |

Cool-season Halloween-weekend seed and nitrogen readers should stay on [Cliff passed?—Mid-Atlantic seed](/articles/cool-season-mid-atlantic-post-october-seed-cliff-dormant-execute-triage.md), [Missed seed?—Midwest mid-October](/articles/cool-season-dormant-seeding-midwest-mid-october-danger-zone-execute-triage.md), [Still seed?—early October](/articles/cool-season-overseed-early-october-last-call-execute-triage.md), [Fescue weekend?—Georgia October](/articles/georgia-tall-fescue-early-october-aerate-seed-feed-execute-triage.md), and [Feed before Nov 15?—Maryland](/articles/cool-season-maryland-fertilizer-blackout-late-october-november-execute-triage.md), [Feed now?—Halloween late October](/articles/cool-season-halloween-late-october-nitrogen-feed-vs-hold-execute-triage.md)—this page is the warm-season preventive **follow-up** for the Clemson Upstate Nov 5-week second-app window.

## Side-by-side: Path A / B / C / D

| Path | What you see this week | Early-November move |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **A — Upstate second spray now** | Mapped spring orange/yellow rings on zoysia / St. Augustine / centipede; **first** labeled large-patch spray already on the journal about **~3 weeks** ago (often an Oct 15-week Path A on Clemson / Greenville / Rock Hill–style counties—about **nineteen days** old on day-57, ~**21 days** by Nov 5); mid-morning soils still above ~**50 °F** on severe-site calendars, or your **label interval** is due | Second labeled large-patch preventive on the **same history polygons**; **≥2 gal / 1,000** sheath/thatch coverage; alternate FRAC groups when Clemson/homeowner tables call for it; journal EPA reg. no. + date |
| **B — Midlands / coast stage the second** | First spray landed on Clemson-style **Oct 20** Midlands / Pee Dee / Aiken / Myrtle Beach clocks (about **fourteen days** old; second average nearer **Nov 10**, about **seven days** ahead) or **Oct 25** Charleston / Beaufort clocks (about **nine days** old; second average nearer **Nov 15**, about **twelve days** ahead); week band not open yet | Keep the [soil-temp log](/articles/warm-season-large-patch-spring-dead-spot-soil-temp-logging-late-july.md); **hold soft N**; circle the second weekend when ~**3 weeks** / label interval lands—**do not** invent a Greenville re-dose for Columbia or Charleston thatch |
| **C — Still need first spray** | History exists, but no honest first spray yet; coastal soils only now crossing ~**70 °F**; Deep South lag | Do **not** invent a “second” app—open [Spray now?—Coast late October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-coastal-late-october-first-spray-execute-triage.md), [Spray now?—Midlands mid-October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-midlands-mid-october-first-spray-execute-triage.md), [Spray now?—Upstate mid-October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-upstate-mid-october-first-spray-execute-triage.md), or [Oct 15 spray?—early October large patch](/articles/large-patch-early-october-clemson-calendar-staging-execute-triage.md) |
| **D — Skip** | No mapped large-patch circles; already completed two well-timed fall apps; soils below ~**50 °F** stop cues; bermuda-dominant SDS story; wrong host copying a zoysia jug | Culture and map only; bermuda → [Spray SDS now?—late September](/articles/spring-dead-spot-late-september-soil-temp-execute-triage.md) / [Second spray now?—late September](/articles/warm-season-fall-fungicide-second-app-late-september-execute-triage.md) when SDS intervals apply; finished two apps → spring green-up follow-up later |

## The early-November Clemson Upstate second-spray fork (10 steps)

1. **Confirm the grass and disease before you open the jug.** Zoysia / St. Augustine / centipede orange sheath rings → stay on this page. Bermuda-dominant spring circles → Path D / [SDS](/articles/spring-dead-spot-bermudagrass-fall-fungicide-timing.md). Tall fescue smoke rings in sticky heat → [brown patch](/articles/summer-brown-patch-rhizoctonia-tall-fescue.md), not large patch. Mixed lots → split programs.
2. **Open the journal—count days since the first spray.** Path A wants about **~3 weeks** (Clemson) or your **label interval** (often **14–28 days** on NC State product tables). No first-spray date → Path C, not Path A/B. An Oct 15-week first on day-57 is often about **nineteen days** old—Path A opens as that clock approaches **~21 days** near Nov 5.
3. **Reconcile the printed Nov 5 / 10 / 15 averages with this week’s log.** Upstate average **Nov 5** is about **two days** ahead—if first spray was ~Oct 15 and soils stay conducive → Path A. Midlands **Nov 10** / coastal **Nov 15** → Path B until the week band opens. Coastal lots still needing first spray → Path C.
4. **Re-check soil temperature—the follow-up still needs an open window.** Place a [soil thermometer](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=soil+thermometer+garden&tag=lawnjournal0c-20) at about **2–4 in**. Severe large-patch sites: NC State themes keep repeating while soils stay above ~**50 °F**. Below the stop cue → Path D. Regional proxy soil pages can sit cooler or warmer than your south-facing thatch—**measure the yard**.
5. **Lock the nitrogen stop before the fungicide aisle.** Soft late N into cool wet thatch amplifies large patch (NC State ~**6 weeks before dormancy**; Clemson Aug 15 / Sep 1 themes). Convert bag math with the [NPK calculator](/tools/npk.md) only if a local calendar still honestly allows a pulse—most early-November warm-season yards should be **holding**.
6. **Separate look-alikes that still share the curb view.** Sticky-night leaf spots on St. Augustine → [gray leaf spot](/articles/gray-leaf-spot-st-augustine-late-summer.md). Soft black roots → [take-all / centipede decline](/articles/centipedegrass-decline-take-all-root-rot.md). Sunny-edge wilt → [chinch scouting](/articles/southern-chinch-bug-midsummer-peak-st-augustine-scouting.md). Bone-dry south slopes without sheath lesions → water and culture, not a panic re-dose.
7. **If Path A execute:** choose a product that lists **large patch** / warm-season turf on the **current label**. Clemson’s homeowner table groups dual-AI granules (azoxystrobin + propiconazole themes) as strong Group A options that can be repeated; single-AI Groups B and C should **alternate** between the first and second app. Many golf/pro premixes are **not** home-lawn labeled—read the bag. Scale spray volume with the [liquid / sprayer calculator](/tools/liquid.md) after you [map treated area](/tools/lawn-area.md). Plan **≥2 gal / 1,000 sq ft** (3+ when the label and equipment allow).
8. **Deliver to the sheath / thatch zone—not a mist on the leaf tip.** A calibrated [backpack sprayer](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=backpack+sprayer+lawn&tag=lawnjournal0c-20) plus a [measuring cup](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=measuring+cup+ml+oz&tag=lawnjournal0c-20) keeps rates honest. Granular products often need labeled watering-in (Clemson homeowner tables commonly cite about **½ inch**)—measure with a [lawn rain gauge](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=lawn+rain+gauge&tag=lawnjournal0c-20). Confirm the root zone with a [soil moisture meter](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=soil+moisture+meter+lawn&tag=lawnjournal0c-20) so you are not chasing wilt with more evening mist.
9. **If Path B:** keep logging; hold soft N; stage a labeled [lawn fungicide large patch](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=lawn+fungicide+large+patch&tag=lawnjournal0c-20) search for when the ~**3-week** / label interval opens—do not spray the garage shelf because Greenville’s Nov 5 line is this week while your Midlands first spray is only about **fourteen days** old.
10. **Journal the fork.** Log species, Path A/B/C/D, first-spray date + days elapsed, multi-morning soil temps, Clemson-region average date you compared against (**Nov 5 / 10 / 15**), mapped sq ft, product name + EPA reg. no., FRAC notes, carrier gallons / 1,000, water-in inches if granular, and whether the soils-above-~**50 °F** stop cue already hit. That record stops next year’s “we always double-spray Halloween weekend” reflex.

Browse staging gear when the yard actually needs it: [soil thermometer garden](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=soil+thermometer+garden&tag=lawnjournal0c-20), [lawn rain gauge](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=lawn+rain+gauge&tag=lawnjournal0c-20), [soil moisture meter lawn](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=soil+moisture+meter+lawn&tag=lawnjournal0c-20), [measuring cup ml oz](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=measuring+cup+ml+oz&tag=lawnjournal0c-20), [backpack sprayer lawn](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=backpack+sprayer+lawn&tag=lawnjournal0c-20), [lawn fungicide large patch](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=lawn+fungicide+large+patch&tag=lawnjournal0c-20), [azoxystrobin lawn fungicide](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=azoxystrobin+lawn+fungicide&tag=lawnjournal0c-20), [propiconazole lawn fungicide](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=propiconazole+lawn+fungicide&tag=lawnjournal0c-20), [lawn care notebook](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=lawn+care+notebook&tag=lawnjournal0c-20). Prefer a written first-spray date and soil log over hoping Clemson’s average table invents the right follow-up morning.

## Timing cues side by side

| Source theme | Early-November read | DIY translation |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Clemson Upstate average | First ~**Oct 15**; second ~**Nov 5** (~**six days** ahead on day-57) | Path A when ~3 weeks + soils agree |
| Clemson Midlands / Pee Dee | First ~**Oct 20** (~**fourteen days** old); second ~**Nov 10** (~**seven days** ahead) | Prefer [Second spray now?—Midlands early November](/articles/large-patch-clemson-midlands-early-november-second-spray-execute-triage.md); staging companion [Second spray?—Midlands late October](/articles/large-patch-clemson-midlands-late-october-second-spray-staging-execute-triage.md) |
| Clemson coast | First ~**Oct 25** (~**nine days** old); second ~**Nov 15** (~**twelve days** ahead) | Path C if first spray is missing; Path B if first already landed |
| NC State two-app theme | Two well-timed fall apps often enough; severe sites **4–6 weeks** while soils >~**50 °F** | Path A interval honesty |
| Clemson FRAC note | Group A dual-AI can repeat; B/C **alternate** | Do not copy the same single-AI jug blindly |
| Soft late N | Amplifies disease (NC State / Clemson) | Hold winterizer N; culture first |
| Late-Oct Upstate staging handoff | Countdown while Nov 5 was farther out | Prefer this page for the Nov 5-week execute; staging companion for earlier Path B notebooks |

Optional culture still beats another jug: keep irrigation on [fall cutback](/articles/fall-warm-season-irrigation-cutback-bermuda-zoysia.md) themes, finish thatch/drainage plans only while turf still grows ([thatch assessment](/articles/warm-season-thatch-assessment-zoysia-st-augustine-fall.md)), and leave winter weed PRE on its own [mid-October last-call](/articles/warm-season-winter-weed-preventer-mid-october-last-call-execute-triage.md) / [mid-September](/articles/warm-season-winter-weed-preventer-mid-september-execute-triage.md) fork.

## What a homeowner can still accomplish this week

**Assessment**

- Confirm species by zone; open the first-spray journal date; count days elapsed (Oct 15-week firsts ≈ **nineteen days** on day-57).
- Write three to five mid-morning soil temps at 2–4 in against the ~**50 °F** stop cue.
- Note which Clemson-region second-app average (**Nov 5 / 10 / 15**) matches your county.

**If Path A**

- Same mapped polygons → labeled large-patch product → honest carrier volume → alternate FRAC if needed → journal.

**If Path B**

- Culture + log + stage chemistry for the Nov 10 / Nov 15 week band.

**If Path C**

- First-spray soil-temp execute only—no invented follow-up.

**If Path D**

- Map and culture; bermuda → SDS path; finished two apps → wait for spring green-up follow-up.

Canada’s readers should confirm provincial product registration and local warm-season windows. Australia’s readers should not copy this Northern Hemisphere early-November fork onto opposite-season summers.

## What to journal in Lawn Care Journal

- Zone map (Path A / B / C / D) and square footage per path
- First-spray date, product, EPA reg. no., and days elapsed
- Multi-morning soil temps (depth + time of day) vs ~**50 °F** stop cue
- Clemson-region second-app average compared (**Nov 5 / 10 / 15**)
- Soft-N hold date and any winterizer bag % N skipped
- Second-spray product name, EPA reg. no., FRAC notes, carrier gal / 1,000, water-in inches
- Any sheath-lesion return dates after cool wet stretches

Use the [Lawn Care Journal](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lawn-care-journal/id1507797403) app to keep the early-November Upstate second-spray fork honest. Optional in-app Assistant is educational only—not a disease recommendation for your county.

Early November needs a Clemson Upstate Nov 5-week second-spray execute—not a hope that Columbia’s Nov 10 or Charleston’s Nov 15 line invents a Greenville re-dose for every county, and not a Halloween-weekend jug copied onto Midlands thatch that is only about ten days past first spray.

[Large Patch Disease Control in Warm Season Lawns](https://hgic.clemson.edu/large-patch-disease-control-in-warm-season-lawns/)—centipede most susceptible, then St. Augustine, then zoysia; bermudagrass often less severe; avoid N after about **Aug 15** Upstate/mid-state or **Sep 1** coast (including winterizer bags with N); initiate fall fungicide treatments once soils drop to about **70 °F**; SC multi-year average tables (2014–2018) place first apps about **Oct 15** (Clemson / Greenville / Rock Hill), **Oct 20** (Florence / Columbia / Myrtle Beach / Aiken), **Oct 25** (Charleston / Beaufort) when temperatures have consistently dropped to **70 °F for 2–3 days**; **second application about 3 weeks later** (table averages **Nov 5 / Nov 10 / Nov 15**); spring follow-up at green-up; homeowner granular tables note watering-in (about **½ inch** themes) and dual-AI Group A options (azoxystrobin + propiconazole themes) versus alternating single-AI Groups B and C.
2. Clemson HGIC. [Brown Patch & Large Patch Diseases of Lawns](https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/brown-patch-large-patch-diseases-of-lawns/)—warm-season fall treatments especially important; homeowner framing often starts applications in **early October** and repeats about **2–4 weeks** later before dormancy; spring re-application themes; alternate chemistries to manage resistance; liquid sprays may outperform the same active as a granule when labels allow.
3. Clemson HGIC. [This Month in Your Garden—October 2026](https://hgic.clemson.edu/this-month-in-your-garden-october-2026/)—warm-season lawns (centipede, St. Augustine, zoysia, bermuda) can be treated for fungal diseases like large patch in October; apply fungicides mid-October and again in early November.
4. Butler, L., & Kerns, J. (NC State Extension). [Large Patch in Turf](https://content.ces.ncsu.edu/large-patch-in-turf) (reviewed Dec 16, 2019)—disease begins as soils decline toward **~70 °F** in fall; symptoms often wait for cool wet weather or spring green-up; favored by excess fall/spring N, poor drainage, over-irrigation, thatch, low mowing; **centipede / St. Augustine** preventive starts when soils decline to about **80 °F for 5+ consecutive days**; **zoysia** near about **70 °F for 5+ consecutive days**; two well-timed apps may provide season-long control; severe sites repeat about **4–6 weeks** while soils stay above ~**50 °F**; ≥**2 gal / 1,000 sq ft** carrier (3+ or ~⅛ in watering-in often helps); map spring areas for fall spot treatment; many listed products are **not** for home lawns (*).
5. Kerns / NC State Turf Pathology. [Fall Into Warm-Season Disease Prevention](https://turfpathology.ces.ncsu.edu/news/fall-into-warm-season-disease-prevention/)—September cool-down framing; zoysia preventive near **~70 °F** soil; centipede / St. Augustine often start when soils are about **75–80 °F**, especially with high soil moisture; carrier-volume theme of at least **~2 gal / 1,000 sq ft**.
6. Martinez, A. (UGA). [Time for Rhizoctonia Large Patch Prevention](https://site.caes.uga.edu/entomologyresearch/2025/09/time-for-rhizoctonia-large-patch-prevention/) (Sep 5, 2025)—*R. solani* **AG 2-2 LP**; favored by thick thatch, excess moisture, shade, early-spring / late-fall N; culture first; fungicides in late **September / early October** when nights cool deeply and/or **2-inch** soils are **below ~70 °F**; ≥**2 preferably 3 gal / 1,000 sq ft**; 1–2 fall apps may reduce spring need.
7. Mississippi State Extension (Henn, A.). [The Plant Doctor: Large (Brown) Patch of Warm-Season Turfgrasses](https://extension.msstate.edu/publications/the-plant-doctor-large-brown-patch-of-warm-season-turfgrasses) (Publication 3743)—cool wet activity themes; history-based preventive on prior polygons; first fall app after **2-inch** morning soils at **≤70 °F for about three consecutive days**, with mid-September treatment examples; liquids in about **1–2 gal / 1,000 sq ft** to reach the sheath zone.
